mnxplorer
is the new sport machine with the 700cc on an all new frame or does it use the scrambler frame.
the scrambler is 38 hp now and its fast, with 50 hp it would be like a rocket.

If they come out with two new 700cc 4-strokes, Sportsman and Scrambler with the zip of my 2 stroke and hardly no more weight...I am trading in my quads for those!

Only time will tell!

Polcat.

Sounds like you are in the know. If so, why have they dropped the 400 4X4 for 2001. Cheap & Fast. Cheap to get even faster as well.

I'll try to find out "WHY"? The 400 is a great machine and dirt cheap to mod! These Polaris "reps" and dealers are full of crap. There will be ANOTHER Quad released before the 700. The 700 isn't "old news" it is just an engine, no proto-type wheeler, frame, testing, nothing. I doubt it will be mass-produced before 2001. But getting back to your question, I'll ask.ASAP take care, Polcat

how do u know ther is know testing or prototypes?? i cant imagine a company putting a much stronger engine in a machine and not testing it, espically for durability. several people on here have said they have been told the machine will be lighter than the current sportsman. how could this be accomplished without a lot of changes to the machine.
all of polaris r@d of the atv's is in roseau mn and arnt u in OK. u said that all the dealers and reps are full of crap, then who do u believe???

Sorry, I shouldn't have open my flapper without being able to tell you more. Here's what I can say:
The 700 engine is very close to the weight of the 500. The production of something to set the 700 in, hasn't even began yet. So it's very doubtful that it's "coming soon". Also, I shouldn't have said the rep/dealer remark. My dealers think that The Rubik's Cube just came out!HA I apologize to YOUR dealers though. Yes, I'm a dumb OKIE.
TAKE CARE Polcat

I'd say your wrong. My wife is preparing the 2001 Polaris catalog right now as we speak, there is no mention of an sp700. All sportsman models are called sp500 H.O.'s. No mention on the scrambler, I will let you know when I find out.

if its not going to be a 700cc then where does this engine go?? the engines are already being made in wisconsin. and why have so many people said theyre dealers know its a sp700 for 2001. even polaris reps have said its true. maybee polaris isnt releasing any info on the 2001 sportsman untill the dealer show. remember the DUSE sportsman is a 2001 model and its already out, maybee thats what shes refering to.
