I had a similar problem. seems that Polaris plastic fades, oxidises, and scratches easily. Still better than some atvs that break every time you tip over. I have found that the luster can be restored by useng Silkolene hard Surface Finish. Kind of expensive. I discovered that Armoral works almost as well for about half the price. Best answer is to put on new plastic every couple of years.

3M marine vinyl protectant. Available at Walmart and any boating supply type store. Wipe it on, and walk away for about 20 mins....when you come back, you'd swear some Hooter's girls stole your quad and gave you a new one. O.k., doesn't have to be Hooter's girls, just seemed like a better story that way.
I'm working w/ them on something similar, but w/ UV protection. Tryin' to turn corporate America on to quads.

You might consider McGuire's Plastic Polish. It is designed to polish out light scratches from various plastics and bring a luster to the finish. As for the black parts? Try Westley's Bleche-White tire cleaner to clean then treat with something like the tire foam product after you spray it on a rag first. I believe you can get both products at your local Wally Mart.
