I bought a Warn 2500 winch today. Any comments?

Well, I was going to get the 2500 but I cancelled it because I found a 3000 lb. Powerwinch marine winch in the shop that I had ditched but I got it to working and I am going to install it using a custom mount and bumper which I have been planning to make anyway. It has a stall rating of 5500 lbs. so I believe it will do a good job. It already had a ****** block on it. I hooked the winch up to the corner post of the shop and I hooked the ****** block to an Isuzu Trooper and ran the cable back to the winch and it pulled itlike it wasn't nothin'.Oh, and it has 50' of cable. I do need a roller fairlead, though.

Will the winch you found run(pull) on small amperage? Marine winches use enormous amperage; quad set-ups have very little amperage. Quad winches are designed for smaller battery\ALT. AMP set-ups most others are not. Just asking Polcat

It pulled just fine when it was hooked directly to the battery. Although, I may be mistaken. I said marine because it looks like all the other marine winches, but now that I think about it, I dont remember reading specifically "marine". Oh well. I'll post the results in a day or two.

i know my warn 2000 has gotten me out of anything i am brave enough to stick the xplorer into.. very smooth and easy. lots of uses besides that also.. we ride an old logging road that has one area that gets downed tree limbs after almost any good storm... i just hook on and winch them out of the way..
