new water pump seals still leaks??
#1
i put a new oil seal and water seal in my scrambler. the counter balance shaft did have some small grooves in it. i sanded it down a little and got it as smooth as i could. it is still get coolant out of the weep hole and in the counterbalance oil. The motor also vibrates alot. this is really the first time i had it running, so i dont know if that is normal. i did check all the motor mounts and they seem ok. Do you guys think the counter balance needs replaced?? and would this cause the engine to shake alot? someone told me on here that rick ritter sells rebuilt counter balancers for around $75.00. thanks again for your help

Did you align the marks on the gears. If you didn't,that's probably why you have a bad vibration. The seals are different ,if you didn't put the right one where it goes it will leak like crazy. If everything is correct then you may need to get another balancer from Rick.Hope this helps.

I didnt pull the balancer out. yes i triple checked to make sure i put the seals in correct. When i pull the balancer the manual says to line up the punch marks on both gears, but i dont see any punch marks. can i just mark the teeth on both gears? i dont have to pull the piston do i?

yeah, i drained the cb oil and refilled it just to make sure the oil seal was leaking. drove it for about 3 minutes and i guess one of the bearings flew apart, because something blew through the case. i just posted another message about buying a rebuilt motor from pmc. i am sick of messing with this junk i bought. i should have new better than to buy it it didnt run. oh well, live and learn i guess. what do you think i should do now???
