This is probably a really stupid question, but since I don't know, I'm going to ask...

My owners manual for my 500 sportsman states: Dry Weight 697 lbs.
Gross vehicle Weight 1200 lbs.

Now let me get this straight, unless I'm just confusing the defenitions. Are they saying that the fluids add nearly 500 lbs ??? If not what is the "Gross vehicle Weight"?????

AND...Are loading ramps(the aluminum ones) supposed to bend a little. I got a 1500 lb set, have only loaded and unloaded by quad twice, and the ramps are a little bowed...

The GVW is simply the maximum weight the quad was designed for (including machine, all fluids, rider and cargo). So let’s say you add 40 lbs of gas / oil to the machine, that leaves you with about 463 pounds left to work with. Now subtract your body weight from that and you are left with how much more you can carry safely on your quad (while not exceeding the specified capacity of your cargo racks)…

The only thing I can tell you about the ramps...I have a pair and mine came bowed..so when they are on the truck they are bowed like a frown face...but if yours are bowing like a smile (downward) then last I knew that wasn't too good...my two cents

I've had a flat bi-fold ramp for three years and it isn't bowed. My brother-in-law has two seperate ramps that have a bow designed into them. Neither seems to have a problem.

There is no such thing as a stupid question and since you are fairly new at this site you will find you won't be trashed and will always get a straight answer. The people here are very friendly and helpful so don't be afraid to ask.
