Default clutch for a scambler 400 and a few other things

I just put a FMF gnarly pipe on with a turbine 2, K&N filter with outerware, Jet. WOW what a difference. Now I wan't to get a clutch, but I don't know what kind to get. I'm thinking about getting V-Force Reeds, (with spacer) Billet Head and boring it to .40 over. What do you guys think? Is boring it going to make that much difference?

HPD aggressive clutch kit, or give Rick Ritter a call and have him put one together for you. You can then add a TEAM roller clutch. Then get the reeds, head, and Wiesco. Save your bores until you need them. Only bore as much as needed, maybe .10 or .20 over. But you may be able to get away with just honing it. You wont see much gain in just boreing it

hey big bad scambler, nice ride. where did you get the rack? I like it. So do you like the HPD clutch? I don't think I'm getting every thing out of it, I think I need to get the clutch so I can. I do think I will go with the head, and the reeds. I raced my buddy sunday and beat him 3 out of 4 times. He has a 2003 scambler 400 2x4, and mine is a 4x4 so I have a littke more weight to. Plus he is 160 and I'm 230

The rack is from Polaris. I mounted a simple plastic tool box on it so that I can carry tow ropes (for the dirt bikes and other quads) and tools and other supplies while still being able to carry a gas can on either side. Works great. I just used some U-bolts to attach it to the rack. I have the HPD aggressive clutch kit. You are right though. You are not getting the most out of your machine now. You need to match the clutch to the new powerband of the pipe. This is especially important with the 2 strokes since the changes from the pipe is more dramatic than the 4 strokes. You may also want to give Rick Ritter a call and have him put one together according to the mods on your machine. I think that thatwould be your best bet. He also carries the head and reeds

If you are thinking about putting reeds and a billet head on I would be thinking about doing some porting to go along with it. Porting and clutching make all the difference. Depending on what dome you decide to go with also depends on how much porting is done. Cutching your bike to your motor makes a difference also. I would decide on how fast you really want to go and do it once. Or else you will be spending your money over and over. I would contact Dennis with AZ BAD BOYZ http://www.users.qwest.net/~ddjshotwell/
