400&300 HELP REPLY
#1
I WOULD LIKE TO THANK EVERYONE WHO REPLY TO MY POST. TOOK MY WHEELERS APART TODAY, I FOUND EVERYTHING THAT I DIDN'T WANT TO FIND(IF THAT MAKES ANY SENSE). ON THE 300 THE SKIRT ON THE PISTON IS BROKE OFF. ON THE 400 A PIECE OF THE PISTON IS BROKE OFF, BETWEEN THE TOP OF THE PISTON AND THE TOP RING. THE CYLINDER IS SCORED IN THAT AREA. IF I HAVE IT BORED OVERSIZED IS THERE ANY THING ELSE I WOULD HAVE TO CHANGE? OVERSIZED .020 OR .040. WOULD I HAVE TO DO ANYTHING WITH THE HEAD?

Bummer Explorer, sounds like a bad week..
You need to make sure you dont have any pieces in the case or you will more than likely be in for more rebuilding. Have the cylinder bored to the least you can to save the bore for more boring down the road. Look to make sure the broken skirt didn't whomp a hole in the case somewhere. Any tell tale signs of leakage that was'nt happening before? Wiseco Pistons here comes Explorer...Get that foriegn debris out of there.
What caused all this explosive behavior anyhow Explorer... DUG
