Still sounds like an intake leak.

Ok, my mistake, I thought the trailblazer was a 4 stroke.

Now, back to the problem. Like ftwflh says, it could be an intake leak and cause a "pop". I'm still very worried about your bog discription. Your going to have to pull the plug and see what it looks like. And like mudmaster250 says your going to have to turn this thing over to see what is wrong. If you don't want to turn the thing over for fear of hurting it more, then I just can't help you. Again I agree with mudmaster250, whatever is wrong I don't think you are going to hurt it any more. The good thing is a two stroke is usually easy to diagnose when the problem is internal. You don't have valves or valve gear to screw up.

My advice is to pull the plug and look in the cylinder with a flashlight and see if you see anything strange. Don't see anything? Ok, just bump the starter over. Sound ok? Turn it over a few RPM at a time. Still sound ok? Do a compression test, or just do a down and dirty stick your finger in the hole and see if you have any compression.
If you have good compression, then it sounds like it will be a cheap problem like ftwflh has pointed out.

Good luck with this, and I hope I'm wrong; and it turns out to be something cheap and easy.

I have to agree with a couple of posts it sounds like intake trouble is your air cleaner new? check all aspects of the carb. Also check the plug wire i thought i blew my motor last year but turned out the dam wire was leaking causing all sorts of miss fires and LOUD back fires.

i now where your coming from, i had a 99 400 explorer that did the exact samething. What happened was a peice of the top ring on the piston broke off. Then it went up and hit the spark plug ,closeing the gap.they dont run without any gap.I tryed all the easy stuff first like other guys have said, but the easiest thing you should first is see how much compression you got.Dont quote me on this but for my 400 it was sappost to be around 100psi.and i had 60.Like the one fella said it ant that dear to fix if you do it yourself.i did mine for under $200 canadian. But keep in mind if the top ends worn out the bottom likely isnt that far behind. That wont be cheap.I solved my problem and got a 4 stoke. hope that helps yah bud.
