Default octane boost dose it work

I had a 686 11: 1 compression in my Raptor and used Klotz brand octane booster and 1 once brought 1 gallon of gasoline up 2.5 points. I was mixing 2 onces per gallon of super to get 98 octane. I was always told that if it comes in a plastic can it wasen't true octane booster because true octane would eat the plastic. I tryed to use a plastic mesuring cup and the Klotz ate it up. GEZZZ.... 14:1 that should be plenty .......you will go broke trying to buy enough Klotz for that . Probably should run racing fuel like V.P they have a 105 octane that they call "Red" and you can find that a local drag strips for around 3.50 a gallon ..... Good Luck!

You will get a lot of differet opinions, but mine is, don't waste your money. Only use a higher octane when you need it. Higher compression and spark knocking are really the only cases you would need a higher octane. Using a higher octane can actually hurt performance sometimes because the spark burns differently with different octanes.

Save yourself problems down the road and burn 104 octane race fuel.

xxxracerxxx, like I said in another post, with 14 to 1 you are in the big leagues. Buy the race gas. I don't know of a product that can raise pump gas 12 octane points. It may be out there, but I don't know of it. Plus if you screw up on the mix or if the base stock is a bit low on octane and you come up short; well you know what will happen.................

I totally agree with NCscrambler. Use it when you need it. It isn't really worth it to burn it all the time b/c it could be quite costly. There is a local convient store in our area that sells 104 I think octane and the guys in my hunting club burn it every now and then. Only when we ride hard or on our long stretch trails. They use it to try and keep up with us that drive 700s. ha ha Good luck and watch your ratio. They say they mix is 50/50. Good luck and hold on. They say that it makes a difference and tell the guys that ride behind you to wear an O2 mask cause you will be burning out some strong fumes.
