ok guys, should i make the 700 v-twin belt conversion on my trailblazer? im buying a new belt this week, and want to know if the top cog 700 belt is worth the perf. gain? what mods are required to install this belt? or should i just put an o.e. trailblazer belt on instead?

thanks
james

Are you saying that you want to know about puting a Kawasaki V-force v-twin belt on your quad? Or the polaris 700twin belt? I assume the Polaris belt. I have the sp700 belt on my 400 and its great. I wont buy any other in the future.

the polaris belt, did you have to modd anything to get it to work, i thought i remember someone saying that you had to dremel part of the belt cover to deal with clearance issues??? maybe i dreamed that

thanks

I tried one on my '02 Trailblazer & it would not sit still in gear. No slip. Instaed of messing with the clutch adjustment, I just put a stock belt on it.

WERE YOU RUNNING A STK CLUTCH SET UP, OR AFTERMARKET? AND WOULD ENGAGEMENT RPM HAVE AN AFFECT ON THAT?

I didn't have clearance problems, however mine is a 2000 and has the old style cover, I don't remember when they changed to the new style or if you even have to mod the newer style. So I'd say that you'd be fine with the 700 belt unless maybe you have the newer cover then I'd recomend checking w/ the dealer or someone who knows better than I. good luck.

Do you have some problem with running the stock belt? I mean are you going threw them quick? Thats why I switched over. After the mods and running heavier aggressive mud tires w/ the 4x4 I started going threw belts quick. I cant imagine that a 4x2 w/ stock size tires would tear up belts two quick.

NO, NOT ANY PROBS, BUT WAS TOLD THAT WITH THE TOP COG BELT, IT RUNNS COOLER, WHICH MEANS IT DOESNT STRETCH AS MUCH, AND THEREFOR GIVES YOU CRISPER PERFORMANCE..I AM BELIEVING TO SEE A PERF. GAIN BY DOING THIS, THAT AND THE FACT THAT THE STOCK BELT HAS BEEN ON FOR 2 YRS, AND HAS PROB. WORN, AND I THINK I COULD HAVE LOST SOME PERFORMANCE, IF ANY OF THIS IS NOT TRUE, SPEAK UP, I NEED OPINIONS....

THANKS

Its up to you. Try it if you want. You can allways go back to the origonal if you don't like it for some reason. I'd buy a 700 belt before ever waisting money on one of the aftermarket "superdooper" belts again. =
