I don't know where you are getting your information but I am positive that the new sportsman is called the sp700. Now I don't know if it's a single or a twin because the people that are doing the 2001 catalog won't let me get too close. But a 650, I don't think so??

650 is still a big engine. It should put out a good amount of HP.

Only rummor I heard is of a 650+ single, From a dealer whos x salesman now works for Polaris engineering. Only rummurs of the twin have been here on the forum. Hope its a single, will have better torque and low end. I dont need to go a 100 miles an hour, 60 would be fine. I just want to get there in 2.5 seconds

The information came directly from Fugi Motors customer relations... I called to talk with them about the possibilities of transplanting an older Fugi Trnasmission into my 97 Scrambler.... in the course of talking, we got on the subject of rumors of the twin Sportsman.. thats when he told me about it.

your right the new 700cc V-twin is NOT made by fuji its a polaris built engine, i believe they are already making it in the wisconsin engine plant.

the 645cc 5 valve single sounds good but maybee in a sport machine.i cant imagine polaris going from a sp335 to a sp645 that seems like a big jump and would leave a hole in the smaller displacement utility class. i would rather see the larger engines go with two cylinders because u get smoother power and power every 360 degrees instead of 720 with a single.
