Default skidoo snowmobile engine with a scramy trany?

one of my buddies is trying to put a skidoo snowmobile engine on a 400 scramy frame. the problem is he needs a transmission. will a transmission from a 400 scramy/sport work on the skidoo engine?

all replies greatly appreciated

thanks

I just installed a rotax 700 into a sport frame ,the problem you run into is the clearance for the carbs. So i did away with the tranny and did a jackshaft instead, which gives you more clearance.Send me your e-mail and i will send you some pic's monday.

The tranny should not be a problem if you can get the clutches aligned but the problem will lie in the space needed for the carbs like CED said. Jay

By putting in the Ski Doo engine (I assume your going to use the TRA ski doo primary clutch) I don't think you can get a strong enough converter (secondary clutch) spring to keep it from overpowering the clutch and sucking in the belt. You may need to look into modifying the secondary setup to a Ski Doo snowmobile secondary clutch also. Then you can just put in stock clutching for that motor when it was in a sled and be close on your setup.
