Scrambler Secondary Clutch Spring
#1
Has anybody tried either setting the stock secondary clutch spring tighter or put in a new stiffer spring all together? If you have, what are the advantages and disadvantages of doing this? I want it to have a little quicker acceleration without doing an entire clutch kit. I like the stock engagement for tight wooded trails. Would changing the secondary sping be a good thing to try? I would really like to get the Team Roller secondary, but the price seems a little high. Thanks.

if u want better take off try gettin a different primary clutch spring, i put a white primary spring in my trailblazer and it helped it off the line quite a bit, but im still goin to get a pipe to work with it.
maybe try the hpd plain primary spring?

Setting the stock spring stiffer will lose clutch efficiency. You should buy a good aftermarket spring such as the HPD violet. Makes all the difference in backshifting but still accelerates correctly.

Would changing to the violet HPD spring make the motor spin faster at all speeds and under all loads? So in other words, it would feel like it was in a lower gear all the time? I know this would make it backshift quicker, but would it also accelerate harder from bottom to top end? Thank you.

You have a lot of clutching to learn about. It is all very hard to explain. It takes years to eventually learn it all. The better secondary spring will not affect upshift under full throttle. It will help with belt slippage and backshift, though. A helix will affect how quick the secondary clutch opens. A higher first number will shift out faster, and a lower second number will keep the rpms up at faster speeds. Too high or big of a split will make the power fall off because it pulls the motor down from trying to upshift too fast.

TEAM secondary is great !!! Put one on my scrammy and love it.But on my Sportsman I like it to hold the back shift on down hills so I run a Aaen blue(medium)spring set at 2-2 good for trails bad for topend.Like Bubba said it takes time to figure out these things.I been trying four yrs and just now have a grasp at it.
