Hey Chopper Bill - Brakes
#1
The damned rear caliper is still dragging after my rebuilding and many adjustments. I am wondering if I could have a blockage in the rear brake line. My machine is over 7 years old and the brake line runs under the engine along the frame where it has to endure the heat and elements. I wonder if it has deteriated and has a blockage inside the rear brake line??
Have you put a piston in your machine? I think I am close by the way it is running. What is the acceptable compression? I assume when you get a compression drop it is timne for a piston and rings?? I used to race motorcross (Honda CRs) and I would have to put a piston in those two-stroke motors when the compression dropped due to nbormal wear.
Do you have to remove the engine to put a piston in? It looks pretty close to the the top frame so getting the jug off may be tight?
I think my startere is going also. Have you replaced one of those?

Hard to determine what is wrong with the brakes with out putting "hands on". They do have a small amount of drag. Are you sure yours is eccessive?
Hard to start and getting low on power? If so time for a piston. Can be replaced with engine in the frame in a few hours, real simple job. Wiesco pistons seem to be the popular set up.
Never had to replace complete starter(pricey), just brushes, armatures and drives(also pricey).
Good luck, Bill
