SP 600 Drive Line Clanking
#1
First Post here for me, I've been a lurker to this point but I have a question for you Polaris Guys.
This is my first Polaris I have owned, my dad has a two 500 HO's so I thought I would try one. I bought a 04.5 SP 600 limited this winter, I have only used to to plow snow to this point , until the last week or so, We finally got to ride this last week in Hi just around the neighborhood, hence the question I have is the drive line or U-joints seem to make alot of noise when you first take off. I have heard this all winter but not as bad, I wasn't sure if it was the plow or the atv making the noise. I'm not sure if this is common or not I have had people tell me that the Polaris just don't sound as tight.
I also own a Raptor and 400 Ex and haven't heard anything like this.
Should I take this to the dealer or is this just common? I have pulled on the Driveline and everything feels ok.
Thanks in advance for your advise.

It is normal if it is coming from the driven clutch as there is about a eighth of a turn free play build into the clutch. They revised the clutch after its release and incorporated a rubber bushing into it to quiet it down. I bet this is what you are hearing. Had a lot of 700 people complain about this but it is normal if that is where it is coming from. quick easy test is to put it in gear and roll it back and forth and listen for the noise at the clutch cover ... hope this helps..
