Default yfz vs. raptor vs. pred

so if you can lose 62 pounds on your pred does that mean I can lose 62 pounds on my yfz too, and then still be ahead of you??

I think what people are saying is that the predator was built a little on the heavy duty side. So that means that their is some weight to loose. Now the yfz is probably as light as it'll get, in fact it probably gets heavier as mods are added.

The advantage for the yfz is that you don't have to spend the money to loose weight.

The advantage for the pred is that you have an extra grand to do it. That and I feel safer on this machine being build a little stronger. I'm 6ft 7in and #265 before any riding gear. I just don't feel comfortable on the 450. Besides, the weight advantage kind of goes out the door for me on a 450. Yes, you'll still have that alleged 60 pound advantage, but the power to weight ratio advantage proabably shifts to the predator.

I have a stock predator with cut fenders, aluim silencer, removed the heel gaurds, cut swingarm gaurd, and stk wheels, it wieghs 382 wet. Most other brands give you unreal wieghts, dry is no shock oil, brake fluid, coolant, etc. And sometimes the figures are calculated by volume capacities. Very easy to make the figures look good. The predator is a little heavy, but the swingarm is strong, and it comes with heavier tires and wheels. If you compare apples to apples the predator is not at the disadvantage that the mags make you believe.Take a yfz and a pred. both mx ready in the same trim and the predator will be very close to the yfz, and will have the power advantage.

i dont, the yfz can also have alot of stuffed removed... and will always be lighter than a pred...
382 wet... with a different exhaust and cut fenders... and a few other things.
the yfz is 378 wet... with stock everything... remove all that isnt needed and it will be alot lighter.
and the power hit of the new 450's is crazy...

hozed, apples for apples. you will have to add wieght to be equal to the predator. You have a cast swingarm, that the yfz's are breaking. To be as strong as the predator you will put a steel or chromemoly on.If you choose the chromemoly one the pred gets one also, so it will be lighter. Plus the predator has steelbraided brake lines. You also have ti valves that require more maintance. And finally the yfz still is at a dissadvantage in the power department. Do'nt get me wrong, the yfz is a nice machine,We just havn't had any of them out run our pred's yet.
