I think that today all the manufactures make excellant quads, including Polaris.I have a new 00 Xplorer and it rocks, never a problem from it in 500 miles so far.My 99 Sportsman was pretty bad at first,I took it to another dealership for repair and everything has been fine.I just finished riding 235 miles in 2 and a half days.OO problems from any of the 8 quads that rode together.===Bill

Yama,
There are good & bad ATV's produced by every manufacturer. Each has its own strengths & weaknesses! I think Polaris has made great improvements in their quads reliability. They are getting better each year.
My question to you is what do you think? Thats really all that matters. Polaris vs Honda vs Yamaha is the old Chevy vs Ford vs Dodge debate.
Will I every on a Polaris quad, maybe. I will most likely purchase one of there snowmobiles first!
Our club has a few Polaris in it & its funny that everyone always gives them a hard time. The owner of the SP500 has 1500 miles & NO problems. Thats great, I hope my Honda does that!

They do make good quads I have had two with no troubles, I have 840 miles on my Sportsman still drives as good as new. I have yet to see any of the so called problems that people love to tell us we are going to have. I will admit that I only ride with 96 and up Polaris I have no personal knowledge of how older than 96 models hold up. I think Polaris is coming along realy fast in the reliablity area of there machines. The 2000 models are awesome and I hear the 2001 models are going to be the best ever.
