Default Torque on front hub nut?

Without a torque wrench, is it acceptable to tighten the nut just until there is no drag? If you recall I replaced a front cv boot and was curious about the torque. Is it critical?

It is fairly important. If you read about my recent hub problem, I believe the cause was due to an undertorqued hub nut. But, if you absolutely must do it without a torque wrench, try and get it as close to 5-6ft lbs as you can

Default Torque on front hub nut?

I know from experience that 10 ft lbs is too much. I usually run about 8 and havent had much problem.

The factory spec is 108 inch/pounds. I think it is very inportant to have it torqued to this as other wise you will have it to tight with will be hard on the bearings or you will have it too loose and everything will move around. If Polaris didn't think it was that critical they would never have give a torque spec. I know that it is a lot tighter than when doing trailer bearings so I would be careful. I would try to rent or borrow a torque wrench instead of guessing because if you guess and it is wrong the money it will cost you could have bought a torque wrench for each day of the week. GOOD LUCK
