Here where I live, in Southern NJ, the dirt isn't dirt at all. It's mainly a coarse sandy mix. After every ride, I check the air filter. The crappy paper filter is no good for the type of terrain I ride on. Both of my quads have dusty filters, and blowing them with a compressor still doesn't get them clean. I'm looking into getting foam filters for my 2000 TB, and my 2000 Mag 500. Does anyone know of a company that makes foam or better air filters for these machines? I would appriciate any help. Thanks!

A lot of people recommend the K&N filters. I will be replacing my paper filters soon with a round of K&N's. You can get them for both machines by calling 1-888-Shadetree. They are good to deal with and the prices are a little better than dennis kirk.

K&N filters are a gauze filter, Uni's are foam. A K&N filter will keep out more dirt than a foam filter. Each takes a different type of filter oil. Both will give you better performance overall. I use each of them and am happy with both.

With the dust you are describing... I would suggest an OUTERWEARS.
Its basically a sock that fits over the K&N filter that kinda "prescreens" the air.. The stock prefilters arent that good, they tear easily..
If you go with K&N you WILL be IMPRESSED... Just DO NOT USE COMPRESSED AIR DURING THE CLEANING!..
Read and follow the instructions PRECISELY...

i personally hate K&N filters..I got a little water in my air box and the filter is falling apart(yeah i know..an airbox is no place for water). I mainly stick with uni filters. They work much better in my opinon.

Believe it or not, the Polaris dealers usually have the best deal on K&N filters, usually around $30.
