Yep, you know what you have. Do you have a pred??

I think you can see what I have....What are you trying to say? Just because I don't have one, I can't defend one?

After being around preds for a while and now that i own one, I'm pretty sure 42hp is about right, its on the heavy side 415lbs and it sure pulls like mad and mine is all stock...

all dynos are different.. The raptor puts out around 35-38hp but its choked up pretty bad from the factory, add a pipe and rejet with a k&n and it will be somewhere around 45hp...

HP don't mean anything its how you put it to the ground and if your engine can handle the stress of the extra HP...

No, the question was if you had any first hand experience with one. I have no problem with people defending something they like. Its just hard to take others' statements seriously when they are based on secondhand or internet knowledge. I am not accusing you of either, its just an inquiry.

As I remember, the 42 hp number comes from trinity's dyno. Which happens to be somewhat optimistic. Just check out their raptor big bore kit hp numbers.

I have never been around one....or even seen one run...The only thing I was trying to say is I'm sick of people saying polaris is junk.

Maybe I should not defend a predator, I don't have one never rode one or seen one run. The thing is I will defend polaris name.

My scrambler puts out 38 hp stock. I should be about 56-60 hp now. I think Rick knows what he is talking about.

I can also see the pred putting out 42hp for the following:

The 500 HO SOHC puts out 38-40HP (single exhaust port, mild performance, performance wasn't in mind during the design of this engine)

The pred(42-45hp) 2 exhaust ports DOHC tuned for racing etc and made with performance in mind (unlike the 500 HO engine)...

so 42 sounds very reasonable....

All i was saying is that there both great bikes and that the Raptor was slightly faster. Just think if either quad wasnt detuned then the 660 would be going alot faster then the 500. No replacement for displacement. Either way both bad A$$ quads

I'm not trying to start a fight BUT, you need to find a real rider to race than you can talk any smackyou want if you win.The predator,,In a stock for stock race should beat a CRAPTOR.I this because I had one and I have friends who do(even though there always getting fixed).
The reason I say that is because you said he ate it twice in the same day. Maybe he's not as good a rider as you.Have you tried to ride his predator against your raptor.
Raptors are good bikes when they run and maybe I elieve that you beat a predator. Remember though, IT COMES DOWN TO DRIVER AND THE PRODUCTION OF THE QUAD!!!
what I mean about production is that I strongly feel that sometimes a quad just comes from the factory FAST and some don't. I've seen and felt this frist hand wth these predators. I've raced my pred against others with the same mods and beat them.I also lost to my own Pred racing it with one of my friends predator and i'm sure that there is one out there that would kill mine.

One more thing I think the pred is around 42HP.(nikasil)

Ok im not a pro rider, and the first wreck when i endoed and flipped that was my bad, cause i didnt gas it up the ramp. and the second time i fell off was because i was doing donuts and i hit this rock the size of a vollyball and it made my rear end jump up and when it hit the ground it grabbed and threw me off. now i jumped off and threw the quad so it wouldnt fall on me. ive only ridden this quad for 2months but i can handle it well, but when u ride hard things happen. some things u cant control.

"No replacement for displacement" only factors in when both motors are in their top state of tune. Neither motor is delivered that way from the factory. Also, revs + gearing can get you a LONG way in this world, and that is where the Predator makes itself known.
