I don't care what you think, i know what happened thats all that matters, Z400s are not all that fast stock maybe 70 and my modded scrambler 500 would go around 66-68 with the mods WOW 3 to 5 MPH difference???? I must have been 100 bike lengths behind when we were at full throttle...

Read!!! i said "he went blazin past me" i didn't say i beat him nor was i very close, but i was not all to impressed when my 571lb 4x4 auto could run with him and not be all that far behind...

Hey man thats cool. I agree with you that Z's aren't very fast stock, no arguement there. Maybe you were decently close to him, so if you were more power to ya!! I just had a hard time with it because I rode a Scrambler 500 HO today, but maybe I'm just used to my Z lol! Anyway I don't wanna get into one of these petty arguements like some other members, so I'll call for a truce on this one, k?

hey if you guys think z's aren't fast, look at doug gust, the last race at glen helen, he was 4th in the first round and 1st in the second round, taking second overall. he was the only person on a z400 and everyone else was on a yfz or a 450R......

 

Ok if were going to talk about MX race machiens then stock really doesnt matter at all, Heck i bet doug gust could get on a bone stock Z and smoke any of us in here. its the rider, but any ways, if your going to race it then pretty much all of the stock stuff is going to be replaced with after market stuff, like, the shocks, tires, axle, ext swing arm, rims, bars, pipes, plastic, bout the only thing that stays stock is the block of the motor, You will be fast on wich ever you buy.

O and on the drag race, you said it was at a gravel pit, were they racing on gravel or pavement, cuz i would hope the scrammy would get a better start on the gravel than a Z would, mainly cuz of the weight ratio and the scrammy has that auto and would be smoother than the Z would be by just slipping the clutch. just wondering.

I like my z alot but the suspension sucks, power is pretty decent, to me there is no better 2 wheel drive trail bike. The z does ok in the dunes but not all that great. That is why I just ride the z for the deep woods.
