Default change sprockets for better performance?

i need all your input please, i heard you can really get alot of low end or top end speed changes from changing your front and rear sprockets, whats the best all around combination for a 500 scrambler who mostly does harescrambles and extreme trail riding? should i leave them stock or change to different combo?
(2001 scrambler 500 2x4 with hot seat speed kit)

What you are doing by chaging the sprockets is chagning the Gear Ratio
By changing gear ratio, you will affect Low end torque and top end speed.
Some others may have some recomendations but it will be a FEEL thing in my opinion and very much so regulated by your rideing area and riding style.

Your OE sprockets are as follow
Front 12 ------------Rear 36 = 3:00 to 1 gear ratio

If you were to just change your front sprocket to say a 13 tooth(up on tooth)
Front 13 -----------Rear 36 = 2:76 to 1 gear ratio

If you were to just change your Rear sprocket to say a 38 tooth (up two teeth)

Front 12 --------- Rear 38 = 3:17 to 1 gear ratio

As you can see if you add a tooth to the front, Gear ratio goes down (top end speed will go up if the motor has the power to pull the taller gear) (low end take off will suffer). Also notice that changes are BIG in comparison to changing just the rear.(Opposite will happen if you take a tooth out)

If you add a tooth or two to the rear, Gear ratio goes down (Top end speed goes down but low end take off will get better) Also notice that changes are small compared to just changing the front. (Opposite will happen if you take a tooth out)
