'I seen my first Rubicon today'
#17
I only have one question I finally did see one of the rubicons on the Honda show room floor. There was all this talk on how it rode so good and the suspension was as good or better than the IRS on the Sportsman, so how can this be if it is the identical setup of the rear end as on the 400 and 450 foremans I really couldn't tell any difference in them...so how all of sudden is this bike so much more comfortable and a better suspension if it is the same thing that is on the older foremans...also the seat did look kind of small looks like Honda would have put a plushier seat to go with that solid axle rear end...has anybody checked to see if that is the same parts in the rear end as in the older foremans...

Interesting point atving. Honda claims to have used "premium" showa shocks on the Ruby. I don't know if thats true or not or if they are any different than the old foremans. But I have heard that by replacing the shocks on a 400 or 450 with some good shocks will make a Huge difference in the ride. I haven't even seen a Rubicon myself yet so my opinion probably isn't even worth the standard 2 cents. Maybe more like 1 cent.

Yes, atving's point was interesting. I didn't know for instance that when rear end components are painted the same color (black) then they must be the same in every other respect too. Or that seeing an atv on a showroom floor is enough to analyze its riding characteristics. Goes to show, you can always learn something from the more experienced, unbiased riders.
Could be that Honda just had some old stuff from the Foreman production line still laying around and weaseled a way to use it up. Sounds reasonable to me. Yup, sure does.

I could'nt see any differance in the rear end of the Ruby from that of the Foreman either.Even if there is a differance,I cant see how it is logical for a straight axle[AND A tiny SEAT] to offer the same ride as a IRS?Its just NOT neccesary to have to take the Ruby from the showroom floor for a test ride to know that.
Now,Im not passing judgement on the tranny UNTIL im actually able to ride it and make my own call. This tranny sounds absolutly awesume to me.Even if the tranny turns out to be the next best thing since the bikini,im still not sold on this quad yet.=====Bill
