'I seen my first Rubicon today'
#1
I was running the roads today and was passing thru the Honda dealership,so I thought I'd stop and see the Ruby. The lettering is SO small where it says Rubicon.Above the Rubicon lettering in bold letters,it says FOREMAN.I did'nt even see the tiny Rubicon lettering underneath the Foreman lettering,so I thought I was looking at a Foreman.I asked the dealer where the Ruby was,he directed me back to the same quad.
My first impressions are not real good. The seat is very TINY compared to Polaris seats. The ground clearance is not correct either.Still equiped with drum brakes to.
I like the sounds of that tranny though.I did'nt ask for a test ride because I did'nt have the time.I'll reserve my thoughts on its riding and handling AFTER I ride one.It still resembles the Foreman ALOT.=====Bill

I rode with a guy for two hours when he told me he was on a Rubi. They do look like the foremans. Also, his transmission let out a loud squeal when he got in a bind in some thick mud. He switched to low and it turned them just fine.

One of the guys that I work with just got one about 2 weeks ago, we went riding together last weekend and your right about the seat it is very small, I couldn't belive the size of the quad and the little seat. The tranny was nice I got to ride it around my property for about 15 minutes and I gave her the real test on this hill of mine that is real steep and rockey....It was very nice going up, lots of power and and traction, but going down it did not freewheel at all. In fact if you were givivg it gas going down and let off the gas the tranny would bring you to almost a complete stop, like as if you were hammering on the brakes. The suspension and ride was just O.K., I will not compare it to a Polaris for fear someone will say I am bashing Honda. And last thing quality was great on it. Everything was put together real good, It is a real solid quad, not much Plastic on it like the brake handles and stuff everything was metal. One more thing I liked was the Odometer and readout all being digital, But if you ever rolled the thing it would completely crush the whole assembly and I'm sure it's not cheap to replace. One last thing that I have to say, we ran them side by side on a paved road straight no hills or corners and the 99 explorer totally blew the ruby's doors off buy about 3 to 4 quad lengths, But I guess they were not ment to race with. I would have to say that the ruby is a very nice machine. But not perfect!!!

I agree with several of the posts here. The first Rubicon I saw, in action (not on the show room floor) reminded me of a larger Foreman. I do have to admit it was the quietest ATV I had ever heard, no tranny noise. At nearly $8000 out the door, I am not sure it or any quad is worth that amount of money to me.
I agree with Cartman, for the money I just keep my Rancher & the extra cash!
Now if Kawasaki will only come out with the rumoured Prairie 650 with IRS.............................
