Swampdog,
One other fix to make for easier steering is to air up the front tires to where there is no sag in the tire at the bottoms. I don't know what pressure that this is, but it sure helps making the steering lighter. Having to switch to reserve real soon may be remedied by the cork gas cap seal. Sounds like you're losing a major amount of gas. Do a search on sportsman tips by gregsims for some great tips that will prevent some headache further down the line. If you plan on alot of deep mud riding, be sure to vent the radiator overflow bottle by drilling a hole in the cap, attaching some type of fitting, and running a hose up into the headlight pod. This will ensure that no sand/mud gets to the water pump seal to make it go out. There are also several other very helpful tips. One reason I said you don't have to baby the thing so much for a "good" break-in is because of the belt tranny limiting the engine rpm. On Hondas, you can rev it to redline in each gear, and on the Polaris, as long as it's in gear, you can't rev the engine very high. Anyway, enjoy your bike. Don't give a second thought to that grizzly--they're junk in MY OPINION.

I haven't had anything much to do with GRIZZ but the guy's that have them seem to be happy with them.Hey as long as we are all rideing, thats the most important thing.I like my 500 SP and some think they are junk but it makes me happy and thats all that counts to me.Understand your fellings but don't think it's fair to put some one elses ride down. They all have good and bad points, one will out shine the other some place.CM

CHICKENman,
I would agree with you 100%, but I don't put down any bikes that I haven't owned myself or that I ride with that have had troubles. Like Honda's 3 wheel drive(as well as yamaha). I have owned a grizzly, and bought it over an sp500 for what I thought to be quality and reliability reasons. It turned out to be the worst quad I've ever owned. I could name the problems I had with it, but I've done that before in other posts. I believe that spending $6,000 on a quad that turns out to be a piece of junk gives me a 100% right to trash talk it if I want to. Just didn't want you to think that I was ******* something that I hadn't owned!!! I now have an sp500, and love it. I'd buy 100 more sp500's before I would ever even consider another grizzly.

The heavy steering is the price you pay for true 4 wheel drive. You won't complain the first creek bank you have to pull that 3-wheel drive Grizzly out of!! Its embarassing what that tank won't climb! if you can't get a 90 degree angle going up a slippery creek bank the Grizz is dead. My buddy has had his in the shop 3 times now, this time its been there for 7 weeks! Be glad you bought the SP500. I fixed my rack by tweaking the mounts underneath they weren't quite level so they rattled from the metal to plastic touching. Also, i had my airbox lid start rattling too after awhile i just made a silicone gasket. Good luck

You guys want to lighten up your steering, set your toe-in dead straight. I had to do it on my Mag 500, and both Grizzly's I have owned. Then set your back shock to softest setting and air up your tires to 6 pounds. You will also gain some top end. It sure helps with the cheepo factory Dunlops they put on. Up in the Thumb in Mich.
