500 High Output Scrambler?
#1
I am ready to by my new Scrambler, but I have a friedn who is a Polaris dealer out in farm country I went to see. He has a new 2001 Scrambler 4X4 500, never left the showroom, and I did look at it, it hasn't been ridden. Other than a few hoses I'm sure I will have to replace, if he gives me a great deal would this be a good buy? What is the difference with the H/O 500 as the 2002's seem to have, this one doesn't. Is there any true difference? He also has a 2000 trailblazer that is also new that I am thinking about for my wife. Thanks for the input guys.

From about 2000-2001 all the 500's are HO, if you can get a good deal on it, go for it . The newer scramblers don't have a fox rear shock or the aluminum oil cooler, which I think are better than the new ones.

01s and 02s are almost identacal. If you can get a good deal go for it.And you really shouldnt have to even change the hoses unless they look dry rotted.

'01 and up go the better brakes. '02 (I think) and up got the plastic oil tank. '03 got blue plastic and a drain plug on the CVT cover. And '04 got the new seat, black plastic, new handle bars, gas gauge, and new rear shock w/o the resiviour. I believe that it also got a redesigned dash. Overall,if you can get an '01 for a good deal I say take it, unless you really want the black
