A buddy of mine has a new 00 sp 500 and he said he's heard of them taking on water at the pull start. They suggested putting silicone around the pull start. On mine the handle fits like a cap over the hole, I've not looked at his. Has anyone heard of this happening?? That would tend to suck....if true.

my friend has a SP500, but it is the early model, before the "new" SP500 and it has a warning label saying make sure the handle is firmly seated on the hole thing, mine doenst ahve the label so maybe mine is sealed....anyway neither of us have a problem, it would also help is ou didnt take off and put back on this handle is will streach the rubber and the seal will not be as water tight

The pull start is on other side from tranny. However , he has the new yellow one and is already trading. He's had some problems and the bike wants to quit on him. I rode it one day and it quit when I gave it the gas. It wasn't out of gas but started right back up. He's afraid it will do it on a hill. He is the manager of a Polaris dealership and it's still under wannanty I'm sure. He is not pleased at all with it and wants a Kodiak or a Honda product. That bike is a hell of a mudder though.
