I'm with Polaridoo. Fix up the 300. Get good chains if your worried about that, but it's probably not that big of an issue. I'm not saying it hasn't happened, but I haven't seen one post about the chains taking out the engine since I've been coming in here.

I agree about sticking with the 300. I had a 96 model that I bought new, and it Routinely flat out embarrased much larger machines. With the 300 being a 2-stroke, All you need to do is add filter, good pipe and silencer, and not just a clutch kit, but make sure your clutch is in good shape. Make sure after installing the kit, that your alignment and belt deflection is good, this can rob some power if its not. Make sure you get a Kit that Raises your engagement abit, but not so much that its unridable, Actually if you dont want a complete kit, a polaris white spring or brown spring alone will give it a WHOLE lot more out of the whole. NOW the Top speed is another story, I dont think the 300 is going to run 60 + MPH like some of the big boys can, so to overcome that youll have to swap sprockets, but remeber you have to swap ALLLLLLL of them, front, mid, rear.. IF it were me, Id settle for a bit slower top speed, But for a few hundred dollars (money youd loose selling it anyway) you can absolutely have no problem sticking with the Grizz and 700 Sportsman to your top speed, And go with some porting, a bit more compression and a bigger carb, and youll Simply DESTROY them.. and to think, youll have done it on a lil 300.
