2001 Scrambler 400 2-stroke vs 1998 Scrambler 500 4-stroke?
My friend just bought the 400 yesterday. I went to check it out a little bit ago and took it for a spin. Runs pretty good, I almost slid off the seat when I first took off. My wife's uncles is a 500 4x4 but this 400 is only 2x4. When my friend called me and told me he got one I asumed it was 4x4 too but I guess not.

Don't let the hp numbers fool you. Its all in how you get it to the ground. Clutching clutching clutching!

Well we went riding at a local hot spot today to try it out and he already flipped it and broke his ankle. He went up ahead of the wife and I and started doing dounuts and after about the third spin it caught traction and almost laid over throwing him off on his foot and then into a roll. The scam roled over on its side and sit there. We rode another few hours before we loaded up and came home. He just called me a little while ago to tell me the news... he said he'll be ready to go again next weekend lol.

the 500 has more low end grunt... but the 400 is teh way to go there just more " zappy" and u can do alot more to the engine to get more HP ( up to 80+) there both good quads but the 400 is the best way to go....and tell him to take it easy on the quad until he gets used to it the polaris ( sporty models) can be pretty tipsy.
