I saw a post that referenced something called green slime, and I am wondering if this is the stuff that Cabelas sells as a tire extender? the name of the stuff is Tire X-Tend and it's supposed to be able to be used in ATV as well as regular truck tires. Unlike Fix-a-Flat, this stuff is supposed to be put into the tire when new, form a protective seal and it's supposed to fix most puncture type insults.

If anyone has used this stuff, either on an ATV or in a truck tire, please let me know. I just put new tires on my truck and would like to know if this stuff is safe to use and what results you folks have seen. The tire dealer said it was just another scam, and that it would mess up the balance of the tire.

Any thoughts would be welcome.

Many thanks

The tire X tend stuff is probley the same as Slime. Slime is great stuff. I have it in my ATV tires and it will seal a small hole that would otherwise leave you with a flat. HOWEVER..at speeds above 45 you can feel the "imbalance" of the stuff in your tires. Its not bad but you can definally feel it. For that reason I would recomend AGAINST putting it in a car or truck tire.

Slime works great. The "new" slime even has little bits of rubber in it to help it seal even bigger holes. I have it in all of my ATV's tires and have yet to get a flat, even with all of the hedge tree thorns we ride through. Just looking at the tries the other day, and noticed roughly 20 thorns in about a 6 inch area of tread. No leaks at all.

I "slimed" the tires on my Scrambler, but with only half the amount recomended, I didn't notice any imbalance the last time I rode it.
I needed some in the Honda yesterday, I knocked a hole in each of right side tires. I had to go to town and get a plug kit. It took care of the problem, but I'll be ordering slime this week for the "other red 4 wheeler"
