What other types of sport quads are your TBlazer's keep up with? I'm trying to get a good idea of what to expect if I keep the 250 and go to town with it. I think I'll save the $1500 a reed cage conversion costs and use the $ to get my LT500 up and running again (had to loot some stuff off it to sell the 90 Zilla). But I do want a pipe, P&P, 35mm carb and clamp-on filter, and "aggressive" clutching, and a slight gearing change for more top-end. Also, the quad is more for the ole lady than me, so I can't remove electric starting or reverse for less weight.......

So please list your mods and what you can beat or tailgate (warriors, scrammies, EX's, etc).

I had a 2000 TB 250 - it pretty much got beat by everything except a tricycle in a drag. It kept up on trails pretty much, but even with the HPD clutch kit and pipe I still got stomped by a Blaster and just about anything else I dared go up against. A TB is a nice machine for casual riding or just hitting the trails, but if your really concerned about stacking up against other quads you'll really need to mod it heavily. I've been wanting to see someone with the whole reed cage conversion, etc. to see just how much of an improvement can be had. I've read claims they can hang with or beat a 400cc Scrambler or 400ex if built correctly - that would be something to see.

 

I'm really not blowing my own horn but I've posted these results so many times its not funny.
My brother has a 99 400 scrambler with basically a trail mod set up. Pipe, clutch kit, 38mm tmx
carb, K&N clamp on air filter, HPD's girdle kit, battery and starter removed and race cut plastic.
In a 100 yard drag race I am about .02 of a second faster.
Was it worth it--SURE. Would I do it again --NO! With the current batch of quads that are out
and I had all the money that I've spent on my TB, I would just buy a true sport quad!
My son has a friend that has a KZ400 that is stock. He has rode it and my TB and he thinks mine
would win in a race. So, I've been trying to get his friend to bring it over.

Our HPD modded TB will out do 250EXs and hold its own with the 300s.But this is with a 75 lbs rider.

how does the tb do as far as wheelies?? has anyone actually clocked one??

 

I have been racing my TB sence it was stock to where it is now. I run in the sprot class an it Has Blasters an any 4 stroke to 350cc. I have no problem beating them to the 1st corner Im no light person either I weight 225lbs. I have raced some 400ex an can beat alot of them except the highle modded ones. I have prof of my Championship last year just goto www.kcracepromotions.com an look at 2003 champions.Im also 36yrs old.

 

I had basically a stock Cyclone 250 and it was faster than a stock 400 Tblazer and my piped and filtered 500 Scrambler.

 

He does real good with it.But at 12yrs old he has 6yrs experiance on quads.
