What will your modded 250 Blazer hang with?

A TB is a nice machine for casual riding or just hitting the trails, but if your really concerned about stacking up against other quads you'll really need to mod it heavily. I've been wanting to see someone with the whole reed cage conversion, etc. to see just how much of an improvement can be had. I've read claims they can hang with or beat a 400cc Scrambler or 400ex if built correctly - that would be something to see.

That's all a bunch of horse ****,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,RedEX had it right.........
Hey guys, whatz up,just thought I would drop by and say hey,I seen the post and could'nt help myself......
T.B.'S are great bikes,I had good luck with my two just don't expect to beat anything bigger than say an old worn out 185,without spending a fortune that is........
The only way it would be worth modding is if you already have one and just want to make it a little faster instead of trading it in and loosing you azz,but if your planing on buying one and modding right away why not just spend a little more money and go with a Z-250 or 250EX either of which can kick a T.B.'s azz without modding ???????
OK now that I've stirred the pot I have a ? for talonhawk or some of you other Polaris guys,,,,,,this is just buggin me,this weekend we went riding and ran into some guys on scramblers, after riding for a couple of hours the one guys bike just quit on him and he said that this happens once in a while, just quits out of the blue, but once it cools down seems to start again and I remember other guys having this problem and was wondering what the fix is ????????????
And just to let you guys know,he would'nt let me pull him back to the truck with my Suki.............

Well mine used to get left behinde by the sp500 I ride with. After a hpd pipe, Milled head, air filter, Cyl porting, gas ported piston, lightened flywheel with starter, carb. mods., different gearing, about a thousand hours getting the clutch to work how I want , and $$$$.
I can walk away in a drag. up to around 50mph then he starts to catch up my quad with the lower gearing tops out about 55 mph and his sp goes faster than 55 so he still got me on speed maybe Ill change the gearing back to stock with the new mods I think It'll pull
11-38 gearing and mayby top out about even with the sp500. And thats as good as it gets without the way expensive mods like reed's or stroker kits.
This is for real we have raced a couple of times and when rideing down long wide roads we get along side each other all the time and full throttlle it I always pull away. My other rideing buddy has a 2004 grizz 660 and leaves me in the dust in every way can't catch him if my life depended on it.I weigh 150 so I'm light the guy on the sp500 weighes a lot more than me don't know how much. So thats something to consdier also.
I know you asked about sport quads but I have yet to race any and would probley loose anyway.

the only thing i changed about the gearing on mine was i put an 13 front sprocket and i still have all the bottom end i want and it keeps pulling at the top. You guys think that i am full of poop but you need to really ride this quad to believe it....Like someone said if you have one already then it might be worth it to you to go ahead and mod it. I have a 400 that is modded all the way without going to alky and i have more fun on the 250, but i only ride at the dunes. I bought a 250 for 1500 and dumped about 1800 into it and my boy would rather ride the 250 over the 400 with a pipe and trail clutching.

Kinda weird how you can sometimes have more fun on a smaller or I should say less powerfull quad like my other post said I ride with a grizz and sp500 and sometimes think I'm haveing more fun on my quad then if I were on a ute. I have to judge and think out every hill climb as not to get out of the powerband makes for a more challangeing ride those guys just put her in low range four wheel drive and go. It's also fun to do on a 250 what you never thought a 250 would ever do They look back after going through some wicked four wheel drive stuff and say cool you made it.
But I still want a scrambler 500 too

I bought mine for $2500 in 1996 so over 7yrs I built mine up. I have never finshed the year MX racing out of the top 4 for the year. Just 2 years ago they changed the rule from any 4 stroke quad to 4 stroke upto 350cc. I run 12 front an a 31 rear sproket. I have drag raced a grizzly with a pipe an beat him I have drag raced my friends 2002 scramblerX 400 4X4 an beat him till top end too. I have raced the Honda 250X they aren't enen close to me. You can buy the 250X or the Suzuki 250 but once you want more speed an power you are limited on what you can get out of them an modding them would be more expansive then doing mods on the Trail Blazer.

SpankyLowe, I'm 6'3" and 250#'s, so I imagine I'd be a sight to see on a little Z250 or 250EX. And I'm not worrying about beating anyone, as I have a Zilla that hasn't been beat yet, but I would like to keep up with others on fire roads and fast trails on the Blazers.
And Jeff10049, I also ride with a SP500 and a couple other big utilities, so that helps, too.
And Thanks to everyone for the replies....seems so there's quite a few fast Trailblazers that would surprise some people!!

what u said about a tb getting killed by a z250 is way wrong. i was riding with one at the badlands and the kid cut in front of me so i got to the outside and hammered it and smoked him. we were riding in the whooped out sand trails and while i was wheeling through the uphill whoops i was smokin him. sure his quad could wheelie in them but not very fast and only becuase its light not becuase of power.
