I have 1200 miles on my 03' sportsman 400 and when it had about 900 miles on it I had to replace one of the boots over the rear shaft. The boot that is by the wheel. Then now i had to do the other side. Im thinking that the suspension is too stiff because i can push on the back and it hardly moves. and with the hard suspension im thinking that the boot rubbs on itself because its running at such an angle. Anyone with any information or expieriences on this please reply???

 

well first of all what do you ride through alot. if you ride through alot of tall grasses that will increase wear. i already replaced 3 boots and i have 2400 miles. no other problem other then that.

o by the way go with the new gorilla boots they cost about the same as a OEM boot but they are way better, even the neopreme boots are.

 

I have a 02 400 and have replaced two front boots but that was because they got torn. I have about 3000 miles on my machine and all the boots look fine. Chances are you punctured it some how. I check mine after every ride to see if there is any grease on them because that is a dead give away that there is a hole.
