I agree. A dirty air filter can cause a lot of issues that may seem more serious than they are. You cant clean the stock filter. Your best bet would be to pick up a K&N. You can clean that as much as you need to. Its the last filter you will every need to buy

Default Gas milage ?

I went on a 40 mile ride today with the ground covered in ice and snow. I had alot of spinning and was in 4x4 the hole time. when I went to the pumps, I topped it off with 2 gallons. I don't think this is too bad considering the machine is new and has less than 40 hours on it. By the way, I ride a SP700EFI. C-Ya

I went on a ride in the summer with my stock 2004.5 SP500H.O. on gravel logging roads doing a constant 50 to 55 MPH and got 65 miles when the low fuel warning lit on the display. That was in 2 wheel drive, high range with about 25 to 30 hours on it.

I ride hard with aftermarket exhaust, jet kit and air filter. Plus my clutching set up makes the motor rev about 400 rpms higher then stock. I get about 75 miles to a tank.

Running rich will effect your gas milage(use more fuel). Take a look at your sparkplug and see if it's a dark color. If it is, lean your carb out till the plug becomes a tan color.
