Drive chain adjustment - Scrambler 500
Hello,
I have a 2000 500 Scrambler with a trailer hitch installed. I am using the "punch" method to perform the adjustment. My problem is that I cannot figure out where the punch goes. (it's a 1/4'' punch in case your wondering) I try placing the punch through one of the four holes on the sproket hub, but I can't seem to find anythingle for it to go into.
I'm probably missing something quite simple as i'm not very handy.
Thanks in advance.
Jim.

I just tightened my chain on my 2004 Scrambler, maybe it is similar, If you look closer to the center of the sprocket other than the 4 big holes you will see a smaller hole in the sprocket, put your punch in that smaller hole and roll the back wheel until you feel the punch slip in, Then If you look between the two eccentric housing bolts you will see a raised notch on both sides of the housing. As you roll the bike with the punch in the correct slot you will see these two raised notches move forward towards the shock which will indicate tightening the chain.
Kind of hard to explain because I don't have the proper termanology. Do you have your owners manual? I think your key is finding the correct hole closer to the center of the sprocket. Your looking at the big holes closer to the teeth on the sproket, look closer to the center for a smaller whole.
Hope this helps
