From the Sinkhole to Snake River campground is only a 20 minute ride or so. The last stretch is mainly a dirt road. If you do go there DONT overlook the riding on the east side of 65. There are a lot of very nice muddy trails in the Snake river State forest. They are a little tricky to find but worth it.

I just looked it up and it looks more like 55 miles from the Snake River Campground to the Sink Hole. Am I figuring this out wrong? Isn't the Snake River Campground east of Pine City? The Father Hennepin State Park looks much closer.

Nemadji state forest is also a top notch place to ride. They have camping in the state forest. From the Nemadji state forest you can hook up with the Gandy Dancer Trail and ride south to St.Croix state forest they have some decent riding too.

Nemadji state forest is right off of highway 23. Take I-35 to banning junction and go east about 20 miles.

Paul Bunyan South Unit is a great place to ride. There are so many miles of intersecting trails, a compass or GPS is a must. Another place I highly recommend is Spyder Lake Rec. Area within the Foothills State Forest located abount 25 miles north of Motley. It has trails of all levels. Have fun!

Maybe we are talking about different campgrounds. The one I am referring to is the Snake River campground located at or around the 83 or 84 mile marker on Highway 65. It is about 1-2 miles east of the highway. The State trail now goes right to the campground. The trail going to the west hooks up with the Red Top trail. From highway 65 to the sinkhole is about 12 or 13 miles I think but I dont have a map.
In looking at my map the only State Forest I see east of Pine City is called Chenowatana. I have never been there though. I had to get a detailed State map to see it well, but the Snake River State forest is about 5 miles east of Highway 65 at highway 27 near the town of Woodland.
Thor we should hook up sometime and ride there. Sounds like we are not to far from each other and have similar riding interests.
