Default variable transmission?

Whats so great about the new variable transmissions? Just about every company is putting them in all there ATVs exept for most of the sport ones, but why? If you ask me I dont think they are that great they seem like they eat more gas because you cant cruise at 40 mph and run much lower rpms cause your in a higher gear, etc. Why havent they started putting them in cars and trucks yet?

Default variable transmission?

Why? There are a lot of people that want automatic transmissions in their ATV's too. The CVT is the cheapest, easiest, and most tuneable solution. Look at the Honda automatic. If something goes wrong (and it does happen) the entire transmission has to be replaced costing well over $1000. The CVT transmission has been around for a LONG time. If it aint broke, dont fix it. The thing about the CVT is that it is a CONSTANT VARIABLE Transmisson, which means that it ia always in the right "gear". It is contantly trying to keep the motor in it's peak powerband to get the most power to the ground. And some FYI, there are 2 vehicals that I am aware of that went into production with a CVT transmission as an option, the Satun Vue and the Nissan Murano. There isnt a very high demand for the CVT transmission in the automotive world as of yet. It takes time for people to get use to those types of changes

They have started putting them in cars. The Nissan Murano is a Belt Drive Automatic, same as a Polaris 4 wheeler or any snowmobile. If you see one you will notice the Gear Shifter has P, N, R, and D...no 1 and 2 because there is no conventional Hydraulic Tranny in it...they are the wave of the future.

Older people, most women, and kids all like the auto tranny. Its nice to just put it in drive and go, and not worry about being in the proper gear, especially when youre a beginner.

Some of us older folks that KNOW how these work love them for the real power they deliver.

it just can't be a match,,there is no better than fine tune those clutchs
when you known your quad properly and use egt's temp gauge,,
i like it for instant peak power and speed delivery all the time wich i havn't find on a manual geared quad yet.
