Default 700 Front Diff won't disengage

2002 700. For some reason my AWD switch won't release the front drive line. Any suggestions?

Note: This machine sees lots of deep water. I'm already planning on replacing the gear oil all around as my dealer suggested.

I would also suggest changing the gear oil as well. Since the hillard clutch is in the front gearcase. Dirty and/or contaminated oil could be causing that

Lets hope thats what it is. I've had so much trouble with this machine already that an easy fix would be nice.

your problem most likely is the armature plate that was redesigned in 2004. it's not a hard fix so remove the front diff and replace the old designed armature plate with the new design. $60 and problem solved!!!!

my brother inlaw was a 04.5 500 and ever since he got it new it would engage into 4x4 by itself when the rear wheels were spinning,he took it back to dealer and they replaced everything in the front drive , its better but it still does it,hes not a happy camper. So as far as the new ones being better i dont see how.Im glad i pick the 04 500 instead, like my dealer suggested ,thats saying somthing right there.I think they should of stuck with what works.
