I would like to know about the 600 kit also. Because im probably going to get it. I just want to know more about it. And what predator you say has 70-80hp? That may be achievable with 20hp shot if nitrous, edelbrock carb, dual lte pipes, flywheel, cdi, 600 kit. But get some info on modded predators besides the "flame throwerer" which i was not that impressed with.

 

This pred does not have nitrous, dual exhaust, or the 600 kit. It has a 48 lectron carb I believe. It has quite a few mods done to it though. It is Doug Nicholas's predator at Nicholas Cycle. He has spent over $10,000 in motors trying different cams, pistons, and different things. He has most of his stuff custom made so no one else in the country has anything like what he has and the places that make it cant sell it because it is his own design. HPD sends there prototype stuff to himt o try and he makes the necesary changes to whatever they send. Polaris will call him up many times and ask him about things on the predator. trust me if u saw this predator go u would understand. oh yeah and to that scrambler guy or whatever his screen name is you dont have to believe me or think i know what I am talking about. because I know I am right and you are wrong but you dont seem to understand so lets leave it at that. tell me where u live and race at or if u are coming to iowa ever and maybe we will meet u or see u around sometime...perhaps u will hear about this predator from someone else before u see it. it won all its classes at monkey but a few weeks ago nothin was comin close to touching it and we were just down in oklahoma it was the fastest 4-stroke there by far. I am sure it is hard to believe now because its prolly the only one out there now but before long there will be more.

 

I don't doubt it's fast but it is not making 80 or even 70 horsepower with no power additives show me a dyno and i might believe you.

 

Hate to tell you but there are a few big-cc predators making in the 80hp range. They're high strung, high revving, oversquare motors. The stock Predator motor has a lot of untapped potential, much less a modified one. I don't doubt for a second that my machine is now putting at least 45hp to the wheels and all I've done is the basics.

 

45 to 80 is a huge jump.

 

45hp at the wheels is ~52hp. Very strong for a four stroke single. But that's just airbox, jetting and slip-ons pipe (with silencer and spark arrestor). I'm basing this on what people have been getting from their dynos with similar mods... I can hardly keep the front down in 2nd gear on good surfaces, it's making power for sure.

Now throw 20% more displacement, head porting and flowing, port matching, hot cams, larger carbeurator, full exhaust system, Ti valves, cone breather, another 2,000 RPM at it... you'll have a full race engine, but it will make *big* horsepower.

Last I talked to Doug, he was trying to get to 100hp(his goal with the pred...no additives, etc)....and I thought he was even closer than 80, I was thinking more like 90ish.

 

if hes making that kind of power why wasn't he at fsw??
