We all know thanks to ChopperBill about the new Polaris models. First off, I would like to take this time to thank him for all he has done for us.
Second off, my dealer has also confirmed 4 new models for 2001. Of Course, the Sp500 H.O., the "new and improved" Xplorer 400, a new sport bike to replace the Scrambler 400, and last but not least, the most aknowledged and anticipated, The Sportsman 700.
Yes i did say Sportsman 700. It will be here by the latest of October 28th.
If you dont already know, the Xplorer 400 will have the new E-Z steer, which is a bearing placed at the bottom or the steer tube, and new and better brake cables-pads-ect. He said he took a ride on it and it steers much better. He said he likes it better than the Hondas.
Most of you probably know all this already, but I just wanted to let everyone know the SP700 is for real in 2001.
Also, atv conection said it will be announced officially on August 15th, the embargo date.

EDIT>:: I might have confused you a little on this. Please read 3 columns down the forum, and I typed a correction there.

IM SORRY.....
I was in a hurry when i typed that up. August 15th will be (supposed to be) when the magazines are allowed to do an article on Sportsman 500 H.O. and tell about it.
As far as the 700 being a sport quad....I dont know, personally i think it would be better off that way, I would like it if they had a Sp700 and a Scram700. i thought the guy told me sportman. ANYWAY, we will find out about the 700 by OCTOBER not August. August is for the 500 H.O. Sorry to confuse, i just wanted to clear that up.

I have ridden '01 quads with the EZ-Steer system. It doesn't steer a lot easier in my opinion (maybe some), although the new lower steering support is a great leap forward in quality over the old one. It is on all of the new models, as is the brakes, choke ****, etc.

I have seen the Sportsman 500HO, and just by looks, you wouldn't tell the difference.

The 400SP four stroke will be hitting the dealer floors next month also. Should be a great improvement in the power dept. over the 335SP. (Nothing against the 335 but I always thought it could use a little boost.) I hope Polaris continues to supply us with "all new" products . Keeps me on the edge of my seat. Ride'em hard Polcat

I tend to think that the 700 is gonna be some kind of sport quad. If they come out with the Sportsman 500 H.O. this year, then why would they come out with a 700 Sportsman also? Nobody would want the 500 unless there's a huge difference in price between the two. That's why I tend to think the 700 will be a sport quad, just enough cc's to be bigger than the Raptor-possibly meaning the most powerful ATV in the world!

I would think the 700sp and the 500sp would be like snowmobiles 600/700/800 all RMK's.But with the 700SP they will have the upper hand, some people won't opt for the extra horses and be happy with the 500sp.Grizz is 600 and Hondu has the 500 now so only figures that the 700 would be next step.Same as everyone just guessing.CM
