Default rear wheel play

The rear wheel on my 02 400 sportsman has some play in it. While sitting still, you can jiggle the rear wheel a little. Is this normal, or is something wrong?

Think that your bearing are starting to go. I had the same problem, but I didn't know what is wrong at that time and I just ignore it. Well, I ignore it for 2 trail rides after I notice it and the bearings and seals blew apart and damage the carrier too. So, I would replace the seals and bearings as soon as possible before you damage the carrier. But when you take the bearings out check your carrier for damage. I don't think it damage the carrier if it's a little play, but I would check it any ways since the rear end is apart.
