On a other post I asked about my speedo being foggy,got that cured somewhat.I drilled a small hole in the bottom to let air in and it seem to work, the speedo cleared right up that's until the sun hits it and it fogs up again but not as bad.That I'll have to live with,as far as I can see I got a much bigger problem when I turn my key on the speedo display and back light won't work.As soon as I turn my lights on the speedo takes to working,this problem doesn't happen all the time and to take it one step farther in the display it'll so show a few #'s and letters at different times-it's not the service reminder. sry man I would love to help ya but I have no idea.. I even checked a few other forums and websites to see if I could get any valuable info for ya but no such luck.

What kind of speedo is it?

 

if it is a trail tech ... when you turn your key on its really not supposed to light up in the back until you turn your lights on ( if you have you light wire hooked up to your switch ) and you might want to check your battery in it to see if it is any good ... since there is no ground it seems like it wouldnt be your battery .... I had the same problem after I installed my grip warmers, I found that one of the wire from the grips used to short out on the frame. Each time that happened, the speedo would go blank. I fixed the wires from the grips and never had a problem since. I hope this help.
