I currently own 3 pipes (AAEN, HPD trail, Hot Seat.
I DO NOT OWN AN FMF
My understanding is that FMF COPIED the original 400L HPD pipe.
HPD has sence updated that pipe.
My favorite of the 3 pipes is the HOT SEAT.
The AAEN pipe is very thin and TINGEE
The HPD trail pipe is nice, but I do not like the spring mount to frame and rubber bumper. (just me)
The hot seat pipe fits nice and preforms well. Plus I can adjust it for more top or low end power.

I just have the slip on pure polaris pipe. Doug rejetted and did some stuff to the carb so now instead of running 52-54s stock it will runs 59 or 60 mph in 100 yards. it help a lot. I just motocross though so if u want somethin for drag racing get the full HPD system. The full yoshimira system is not as good as the hpd but better then the purepolaris.

Why not just get the HPD trail pipe and clutch it according to what HPD says. You would just be guessing as to what you need on the clutching with the FMF. I don't think that the HPD pipe costs that much more than the FMF.
And no I don't think that you will get as good of performance with the FMF way less probably. The FMF also have a reputation for splitting at the welds.
