400 2 stroke engine trouble
Hi guys, dad has a 94 400L that I have been working on. I pulled the cylinder and the piston skirt broke off and busted both cases. I have figured I could do the work but it will cost him more money in parts than he cares to spend on it. He never has liked the 2 stroke engine (not good at all for farm work) and has contemplated getting rid of it. I mentioned he might be able to swap in a 4 stroke engine such as the one from the 500 Scrambler but I didn't know for sure.
What I'm asking is that if I can pull the engine and swap it out for a 4 stroke if I can find one reasonably priced? I'm guessing here but upon a glance, the frame appears to be very similar to that of the Scrambler's of the mid 90's isn't it. Isn't the drivetrain pretty much the same on the Polaris models. I don't know as this is the only one that I've had any extensive experience with.
I'd appreciate any help you can offer to me.
