Scrambler Winch Mount
#1
I KNOW, I KNOW ... it's a sport !!
Anyway, I want to put a winch on the Scrambler. I cant find any pictures or mounting accessories for it.
Have any of you put a winch on yours ? How did you mount it ? Is there a mounting kit made for it ?
Thanks,
Dave

I put one on mine and it was pretty easy! It's hard to find someone that put it on a
scrambler 2 stroke. Rocky mountain sells winch mounts for warn and superwinch.I also use a DG front bumper to protect the winch. It does hang out in front abit.

I mounted a winch under the tailight. I took a 1/4 inch steel plate, welded 4 pieces of angle-iron (one on each corner) and mounted it between the rear frame rails. I know everyone that has to use a winch would like to be on the good side of the mudhole but I say any winch is better than none!! The only mod i did to the winch was clamp a piece of aluminum around the motor too keep water off and heat from the exhaust. I had to use the winch maybe 4 times in the last 2 years and it worked great.

IndyDave: Just recieved our Srambler and sorry to say the kit I had in stock won't fit. Cycle Country sells them for around a $100. I like ToyMans idea of mounting it in back. Less wieght on the front of your Scrambler the better.

Guys, read the past posts! I have accomplished this on my race machine (2000 scrambler) and the winch fits perfect. Use the DG front bumper and the roller fairlead made for the superwinch EX1. With a little welding and a plate, it works great. I have had mine on my scrambler since the begining of the GNCC season and after all these races its fine. I dont think the superwinch unit is as good as the warn, but 1. The warn is more than twice the weight, and 2. The warn is bigger and might not fit!
For pics of my winch installed...check out www.vastnet.net/teamvastnet Click on the scrambler pictures.
