Shifter problems on sp500
#1
Yesterday, I went for a little ride, and the shifter got stuck in low. The position of the shifter looked to be in neutral or high, but the bike was actually in low. I could not get it to change from the position it was in for several minutes. The next time I stopped, I tried again, and it finally moved. Worked flawlessly as usual for the remainder of the ride. Has anybody else had this problem? How was it remedied? Was it a one-time thing, or is it for sure that my bike will start doing this on a regular basis? Thanks in advance.

I have had mine get in a bind before and it corrected itself like yours. I was riding with Tony H. and His SP335 got jammed into low and we couldn't get it out until that evening. I was repairing a Yamaha while Tony and Sumthin4nuthin repaired the shifter. They had to take the shifter apart and it was in a bind. They also found that it needed to be greased??? Anyway, the whole process only took 20 minutes and his has worked flawlessly since. Sorry, I am not much help. I didn't watch the process or see what had actually happened.

Greg,
Thanks for the response. Last night when I got home from riding, I took the top off the range selector, siphoned out the fluid in it, and refilled it. I'm not sure what caused the problem, but maybe it won't happen again. I just talked to a polaris service guy, and he said he has seen 2 that have done that this past year. He said that one of the linkages needs a little adjusting due to the shift box "breaking in". I'm going to call my local dealer and see what they have to say.
