Default 450R or Predator -- Need to decide, please help!

alot of people seem to post this topic. i really dont see a comparison . but i am partial to ride red . both good bikes you decide what you want by performance . whats 600 bucks anyways . your already spending thousands ? ive ridden both alot. it only takes the hrc kit to make the 450 competitive as far as response . the pred is fast /the 450 is faster.

450R seat is hard as a rock plus the front has piggy back res not remote. The front feels like it is a solid axle and beats you up pretty bad. A lot of rider fatigue if your not MX racing. Starts like a dog when it is hot, plus if you shop around its more than six hundred difference. I live in OR with no sales tax and am picking up a Troy Lee for $5500 this Saturday. My buddy paid $6500 for his 450r and another 800 for +2 +1 A Arms and $120 for stainless braided brake lines just from the T. The 450R does great in the sand, first gear is really long and the bike has plenty of power when lugging down in 3rd.

the pred does have nice shocks. hmm thats about all i can think of . oh well. the 450's piggy backs go for more than a new set of works. thats gotta say something. the front is far from strait axle in fact are you sure you rode a trx450r.

I said it felt like a solid axle not that it had a solid axle, even after softening it up. I havn't rode it with the new a arms yet, it should make a big difference. The 450r is a great bike, especially if you race. I thought the question was which was the most confortable. I heard the 05 450R will have electric start, and there will be some conversion kits for the 04's. If you wait until after the 21st, rumor has it the 05 predator will even have reverse. Both are great bikes, the 450 if you are going to sanctioned races, the 500 if you are just into a confortable seat on a performance quad on a long days ride. Just remember, dont buy it, till you try it. Everybody's built different and I would never buy a quad I havn't been on.

I have a pred and have ridden a friends 450R..The 450 handles good and you feel bigger than the quad but doesnt seem to have the power the pred did in stock form..the preds seat is definatley bigger and like mentioned the pred has upgrades done to it and like someone said your spending thousands so what is $600?? EXACTLY after you feel glad you bought an awesome quad and saved $600 take that and stick it into extras for your pred Ive also had my pred studded and it does good, Its weight and width make it a sturdy quad on the ice when your studs are nice and sharp...its not to deep snow friendly..(i dont think any two wheel sport quad is)

But i am sure he can help i think he has rode an r.
Oops, my bad. You're right, he has the YFZ. Oh well, those two MX machines are pretty close anyway, so I would still consult with him regarding the Pred or 450.

milage - i dont know!!! lol.. all depends on how high you like that engine to rev!!!
handling - they both handle nice... id say about even.
hillclimber - 450r, it just shoots up hills like crazy... but the yfz is even faster.
tires and rims - the pred... the 450r comes with the usual stock honda junk.
winter rides - they both went fine.

ill say more later when i dont gotta hurry and go to work!!! lol

I can't believe you guys call the stock Honda wheels junk and think the Douglas are great. I would have paid hundreds to get those OEM Honda wheels built in a DS wheel pattern. I have Douglas on my DS because they come stock with junk wheels. The Douglas look good when they are new and that is it.

As far as 450R vs Predator, I can't really say anything bad about the Predator. I've not ridden more than 5 minutes on one. The 450R I have ridden a fair amount and love it except for 2 things. 1) Wish it had electric start, 2) it is geared tall and stalls fairly easily (kick some more). As a matter of fact, I'm looking to make someone a good deal on a 2003 DS 650 so I can get a 450R.

Oh, almost forgot. Abernathy's in Union City, TN, has the Honda 450R for $5399.
