My starter just went out a week ago on my 2000 Blazer. I have never drained a starter and they said that this was the reason that it went out. It would cost over $400.00 to fix as it also need a new bendix. I will be pull starting and put my money toward more mods. This is just something that may save you alot of money if you ride in water and mud alot you may want to take the drain bolts out often I did not know this and I will pay the price.

400? that is too much..

If you look in dirtwheels and 4-wheel ATV action you can get a used one for under 200..

I have looked I can get a new one for 180.00 and then I have to buy a new bendix 140.00 and then about 50.00 labor ends up being around 400.00 in which shouldn't have went out in the first place

I also have a 2000 Polaris Trail Blazer and my starter has started to make a real loud squealing noise when ever i push the electric start button. could that be the reason why, could it be the bendix drive?

It is proably the bendix. I would be sure to drain it. You can take off the pull start to get to the bendix take it out clean it and spray some wd-40 on it
