Me and a bunch of friends had a huge get together this weekend. One buddy picked up a brand spankin new Trail Boss for his son on the way to the shindig. The kid was ear to ear smiles on his new toy, until the motor seized up 2 hours later. What a gut wrenching sound. After close inspection, we found that the oil line coming from the oil cooler was only on the brass coupling 1/8 of an inch. Oil was all over the motor. The intake line was ribbed, to keep the feeder hose from sliding off. But looking closer, we found that the oil line was too short to even get a good seat on the intake port, it couldn't even slide on to sit where it was supposed to. I can't wait to see what the dealer or Polaris has to say about this one.

I would have thought the mechanic at the dealer would have checked all of the oil lines upon doing the prep work. If this happened to my knew machine, I would demand a totally new one. Don't let them just replace the motor. Their screw up, not yours. Later.

I have had that happen on my boss 2 times now. It didnt seize because oil sparyed all over me so i shut it off that second. After the second time i put a real hose clamp on it and havent had a porblem since with it. It looked like it was too short but you should be able to pull it up far enough to tighting the clamp down.

I have noticed this tendency too. My 325 had developed a pin hole in the line early on . The hot oil tends to soften the rubber hose and of course the oil pressure is fairly high for the type of hose used .I have heard of the hoses getting spit off by the oil pressure too. The hose gets soft , and the oil makes things slippery and " Pttteewwwey " off she goes. I think what I am going to do the first time I have some spare time (yea right) is get some hydraulic or braided hose and fix the problem once and for all.

 

Rick is right on. Switch that hose over to a better quality material. Something that can do the job.
Also agree with the above post, demand a new machine. Engine swaps tend to be problematic in the long run.

 

I had a similiar problem when new also. There is a cover over the line to the engine to keep it from rubbing on the frame. The clamp was over the plastic cover, when the oil ate the cover the clamp was loose and it leaked oil. I was putting it on the trailer when it gave way to I was very lucky.
