Rick is right about this. The 42mm TMX is only a bored out 38mm TMX. Although I've never had the need to have a carb bigger than 38mm. Rick once told me that even with a port job, a 400 engine won't completely flow a properly tuned 38. Porting DOES help, but you won't get the full flow effect out of it. There is always that little bit on the top end.

Hey Capt. I just installed the HPD trail pipe and 90$ agressive clutch kit. I already had the V-Force 2 and did the air box mod.

How much does the porting add on...to the "seat of your pants" experience? Can you feel a great difference? That might be my next mod but I want to be sure that it is worth it.
Plus, are you running the same clutch kit from HPD? Any spring changes?
I have had this set-up for a few weeks now and it is quicker but the machine does not feel like it wants the front wheels to go up...Too much wheel spin maybe with the Bearclaws...
Any suggestions to make what I have better?

Maybe I am just numb to power

Xplor, I'm still breaking it in, with a heavy pre-mix and rich jetting, so I won't know the full improvement 'till I can tune on it and lean it out some. But, even as far out of tune as it is,I can feel some improvement. I'm going to run the snot out of this thing this weekend, so I can get it broken in and start tuning.
Are you running the reeds in the high or low tension position? I've been running them in the low tension position from the outset, and haven't experimented with it at all.
I'm still running the Titan 489's and the front end wants to lift with more than about 1/2 throttle and will carry it as far as I want. The Titans seem to hook up in forward pretty well, but they just spin when it's in reverse. Too bad they don't make them in 4 ply rating...

I am running the low setting also. I will try and switch it next time it's in the shop. Maybe the high setting will give me a bit more mid... I am pleased with the power of the pipe but still find it strange that it is not arm-wrenching power that I heard so much about. When I had the EPI clutch kit in, I could feel a bigger difference compared to stock. Now with the pipe, the power seems to just pop out at about 1/2 throttle. Sounds wicked though!!!

The front end stays down and the rear tires just shoot... I think maybe the rear Bearclaws paddle good in mud but on hardpacked and sandy trails they slide a bit more than the 489's.

Let me know how it rides!
